The 63-year-old Oscar winner felt impelled to reveal the information during the “Drag Isn’t Dangerous: A Digital Fundraiser” weekend live telethon.
“What drives me is because it’s right, and what’s happening right now is wrong,” Harden, 63, told co-host Adam Shankman, per People. “What motivates me is that my offspring are all homosexual.
“My oldest child is gender non-conforming. My son is homosexual. My youngest child is adaptable, she continued. “These are my children, and they teach me every day.”
The three offspring of Marcia Gay Harden are all homosexual.
The actress’s ex-husband, 58-year-old director Thaddaeus Scheel, is the father of her 24-year-old daughter Eulala and 19-year-old twin sons, Julitta and Hudson.
The star-studded event held in Los Angeles on Sunday was in response to recent attempts by state legislators to prohibit drag shows and performances, which they claim are unsafe for minors.
The controversial legislation, according to Harden, is “so fear-based” and “spreads this kind of fear and hatred among others.” “I believe this country will fight against that.”
The “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” actor then posted a succession of photographs from the broadcast to Instagram with the caption, “The only dangerous thing about drag is how hot these queens are!”
She encouraged her followers to donate to the fundraiser in support of the LGBTQIA+ community, which she defined as “support for all of us!”
She wrote, “Our nation, our neighbors, our children, our artists, our singers, our dancers, our better leaders, chief executive officers, authors, spiritual leaders, and essentially our humanity.”
“Homosexuality is here to stay. Drag will continue to exist. Donate whatever you can and help us disseminate love.”
