Eilish wrote on Instagram, “I spent the first five years of my career being absolutely OBLITERATED by you fools for being boy-ish and dressing as I did, and constantly being told I’d be more attractive if I acted like a woman.”
She continued, “And now that I feel confident enough to wear anything remotely feminine or form-fitting, I have changed and become a sellout.. and ‘what happened to her?’ oMg Billie is not the same.” She is just like everyone else bla bla bla… you people are complete fools. LOL. I can be BOTH of you f***heads. LET WOMEN EXIST!”
In a subsequent Instagram Story, the Oscar-winning actress clarified that women can have different styles and be interested in various fashion trends without being required to embrace only one.
Billie Eilish responded to detractors who questioned the evolution of her style.
“FUN FACT! Did you know that women have many facets? “remarkable, right?” she wrote. Women can, contrary to popular belief, be interested in multiple topics.
She added on the following slide, “Also that femininity is not synonymous with weakness?!!!!!! omg?! ridiculous right? Who would have known? “It is unheard of and insane to want to express yourself differently at various times.” She concluded her post by saying, “Suck my absolute ck and bs, you women-hating a* weirdos.”
In her Calvin Klein campaign later that year, Eilish elaborated on her choice to wear oversized, baggy clothing, explaining that she did so to prevent people from discussing her body.
