Stephen King, the master of horror fiction and author of Carrie, The Shining, It, and Misery, disclosed on Twitter that he has only once felt compelled to exit a movie theater.
The film in question was not a horror film – the genre for which he is best known – so it is surprising that he could not see it through to the end, given that his decision generated over $700 million at the worldwide box office and paved the way for one of the most successful sagas in film history.
King departed Transformers
Taking advantage of a tweet from fellow novelist Linwood Barclay stating that Jurassic World Dominion is the first movie he has left in a long time, Stephen King recalled the film that caused him to leave his seat: “As an adult, I’ve only left one movie: Transformers,” he said.
Shia LaBeouf, Tyrese Gibson, Josh Duhamel, Megan Fox, Kevin Dunn, and Anthony Anderson appeared in the 2007 film “Transformers,” which was directed by Michael Bay and produced by Steven Spielberg.
It obtained box office figures in that year that placed it only behind Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Spider-Man 3, and Shrek the Third.
It also has a rating of 7 out of 10 on IMDb, which is quite a high score and not one you would normally associate with a film so awful that people depart before the end credits.
The Horror Film King Did Not Complete His Viewing.
However, this is not the only film that Stephen King has not completed. The author admitted last year that he failed to complete The Blair Witch Project, a blockbuster film from the 1990s.
In his defense, it must be acknowledged that he was not at his best because he was hospitalized and under the influence of various medications.
“Halfway through, I said, ‘Turn it off, it’s too weird.'”
