Loma Vista Recordings will release Local Natives’ fifth album, “Time Will Wait For No One,” on June 7. Today they released “NYE.”
The band created the album “during a time of metamorphosis for us.” As fathers, we experienced solitude, loss, and identity crises. Our highs and lows were extreme.”
“Halfway through the album, we played one of our most emotional concerts. A sold-out event at LA’s Greek Theater, our first in over two years, but we didn’t sure how to proceed.
We were near collapse as individuals and a band. Time and change are unstoppable, but your loved ones remain constant. After that reckoning, we dismantled everything and started over, composing our most songs. Time Won’t Wait is the first chapter.
‘NYE’ captures Local Natives’ wedding band custom. The band played ‘Someday’ by The Strokes during guitarist Ryan Hahn’s wedding last year.
“I was so floored watching the guys play this from the audience, something I’d never seen before, that I thought we had to do a fast and wild song, & ‘NYE’ was born,” recalls Hahn.
