This fall, the world premiere of the musical “Love Never Dies” by Andrew Lloyd Webber will take place in China, and Shanghai will be the first city on its tour.
The Really Useful Group, Crossroads Live, and Poly Theaters in the United Kingdom are responsible for the production of the English musical, which is sometimes referred to as a sequel to “The Phantom of the Opera.”
Ben Elton adapted the story “The Phantom of Manhattan” by Frederick Forsyth into “Love Never Dies,” which has music composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics written by Glenn Slater, and a storyline taken directly from the novel.
The events of the novel take place in 1907, which is around ten years after the Phantom vanished from the Paris Opera House. He has started a new life in New York and currently resides in the area of Coney Island that is known for its terrifying thrill rides and freak exhibitions.
The musical will thrill audiences with passion, obsession, and intrigue.
Even though the Phantom has finally found a place for his music to fly in this new world that is electrically charged, he has not ceased pining for his one and only true love, Christine Daaé, even if he has found it.
Christine, regarded as one of the most talented sopranos in the world, agrees to go to New York in order to sing there after receiving an offer to do so. Her marriage to Raoul is in trouble as a result of Raoul’s drinking and gambling, and the Phantom is making one more effort to win back her affection in order to save her marriage.
Since 2010, “Love Never Dies” has been performed in the United States of America, Finland, Australia, Denmark, and Austria in addition to Germany, Japan, and Austria.
The show will have its world debut in China under the guidance of associate director Gavin Mitford, associate choreographer Simone Sault, and music supervisor Simon Lee. The show was directed by Simon Phillips in the original production.
The announcement of the performance dates, location, and ticket information is coming very soon.
